The Oranje Boven light shirt is designed by Zinoz.

Funny smelling billboard

In North Carolina a supermarket has placed a billboard on the side of the road that smells like barbeque and steak. In order to get the people passing by taking notice of the billboard, a machine was placed on the side of the road that produces the smell of steak being grilled on the barbeque. It's a great way to advertise the meat you have to sell.

LED dresses galore

After Katy Perry showed her LED dress at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit Rihanna now showed her LED dress at one of her shows. Only Rihann's dress is capable of displaying video so nice patterns can be created.
I'm curious what kind of illuminated clothes we will see in the spotlight.

Wearable OLED wrist computer

We carry computers (laptops) with us for quite some time now but the time will come that we will be wearing them on our wrist. Hiromi Kiriki has designed a concept for a wrist computer using an OLED screen. It has a keyboard that slides out and it's primary function is to browse the internet and use social media. This kind of "wearable" technolgy makes sure our heavy lifting days are over.
More pictures after the jump.

Splattering mailing

Letting people experience a product or something gets them more involved and excited than the usual newsletter or advertisements. This is a nice example about how to reach people who live busy lives and have a short attention span. To point out that the service is a online laundry the target group was sent a box with a tomato in it. When the box was opened they were told to smash the tomato. And who doesn't like to smash things?

Press release LED

It’s hardly surprising that the latest development in the evolution of wearable art comes from Zinoz. Their new LED shirt follows their previous innovations in the areas of high-tech graphics and messaging, and uses LED technology to create a vibrant animated effect that’s virtually impossible to ignore.

The very first products that will use Zinoz’s new LED technology will be LED shirts for the FIFA World Cup 2010, to be held in South Africa. The FIFA LED shirts will feature, appropriately enough, soccer-related graphics.

LED shirts represent the fourth technology introduced by the messaging wizards at Zinoz, after electroluminescence, lenticular and Lenticulite.

Zinoz’s LED shirts use LED lights in three colors (red, blue and yellow). When activated, these produce an arresting animated effect in a fixed pattern, which operates on a 60-second cycle.
The LED components can be removed from the shirt, so the Zinoz LED shirt is completely washable.

Shortly after their debut at FIFA, Zinoz will launch a new collection of LED shirts. This line will consist of several designs from Zinoz, as well as licensed cartoon characters such as The Pink Panther (MGM owns the ancillary rights and trademarks to the Pink Panther franchise).

LED shirts from Zinoz are available for both men and women, with short or long sleeves, and in a variety of colors.

Bluetooth headset/neckwear

So far I haven't seen anyone trying to combine bluetooth headest with a necklace. This attempt actually looks quite nice. Novero designed it in a way that combines the technology with a wearable and fashionable look. This headset is part of the Victoria line from Novero which has more bluetooth fashion items.

Headphone sweatband

This device/piece of clothing may be perfect for the joggers among us. Headphones that are integrated in to a sweatband. After all the futuristic garments like the 'Ping' and the LED gown, this is a piece of wearable technology that people will picture themselve wearing.

Wrinkle (free) poster

What is a better example of anti wrinkle cream than a poster on which people can wrub out the wrinkles themselves. This billboard let's you remove the wrinkels of a woman's face in order to see how great the product works. Cleverly thought out. But what if the first person did all the work and the poster is wrinkle free? Perhaps someone needs to "reset" the poster so that more people can experience the effects.

Update your online status with every move (literally)

The wearable technology department has become a whole lot more social. There is a new garmant with which you can update (for example) your facebook status. It's called 'Ping'. It does this wirelessly through natural movements that are built into the fabric. For example, unzip, move your arm or lift up your hood to update your facebook status automatically. And by using only the clothing I really mean nothing but the clothing, so no mobile phone or laptop to connect to the internet.

Corporate identity done right

13th street is a television station that shows crime and thriller series. To extend their brand they decided to change their letters, emails and envelopes to a more suitable style. Now they can nail a staple through someone's eyes, or perforate a person's head. A clever marketing strategy to make sure people remember your emails and letters.

Text sending underpants

Beside being interested in trendy clothing and innovative fashion designs, the technology can bring us something that maybe isn't stylish, but just very useful.
Behold, the electronic text message sending underpants, for when you forgot to go the bathroom.

This peace of clothing uses the SIM system (SIM means "Smart Incontinence Management")which allows the nurses to receive a text message when a patient has become incontinent. This means that they don't have to check the patients manually throughout the day.

Save on staples, save trees

A nice looking poster from a campaign from Greenpeace in China about the effects of using to much paper (and staples). I don't think they will be doing this again, seeing as how many staples were used for this billboard.

Wearable technology: Glowing heels, part 2

Following our previous post about illuminating heels comes the second pair of glowing shoes. This thime the designer Jimmy Choo has made a pair of shoes with technology built in to it.

The Zap Sandel is part of the SS 2010 collection and features LED lights in the heels and the bottom of the shoe. The thing that isn't clear yet is how the lights will go on (or off).

Sun powered advertising

People have to pay attention to the amount of time they spent in the sun, because of the dangerous radiation. That's why sometimes you have to take a break from the sun. This cleverly designed (bill)board tells you exactly that.
The board itself is almost impossible to read but when you look at the shadow the message become clear.

Wearable technology: LED Gown Monitors CO2

There is a new way to guide you through this unsafe world of CO2 polluted air. And it is a quite stylefull one. This Climate dress uses LED to show wether you are walking in a CO2 polluted area or breathing in clean air.

The LED lights react to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and makes the lights give slow pulses or rapid flashes, depanding on the quality of the air.

How long smell clothes fresh?

To let people know that your clothes stay fresh longer with Ariel, they have placed some clothes between the fresh fruits in the fruit and vegetable section. That will definitely grab people's attention, because who expects a shirt right next to the apples and tomatoes.

Baggage Belt advertising #2 - Lava

Baggage Belt advertising is hot. TBWA has come up with a new print on which your luggage will be brought to you. For the promotion of the Pompeii exhibit in New Zealand , visitors ariving in the country are greeted with a flood of lava.
This way the traditional media keeps grabbing your attention in new ways.

Wearable technology: Glowing heels

Besides light shirts and sneakers, what other peace of clothing could you illuminate? Nicholas Kirkwood has brought us something to wear under our LED dress.

The glowing three inch heels from Rodarte are not over the top due to the cleverly placed lighting in the heel.

Floating comfortably

"Choose your personal kind of comfort", that's the slogan for KLM's economy class. Sitting there all day may not be the most comfortable thing I can think of but the way he is doing it might be.
While floating in the departure hall, people are wondering how he is doing that.

Walkthrough Brush

Covergirl cosmetics thought of an idea to illustrate how big the brushes are for their mascara. Just paint the subway exit, put a billboard next to it and people will see the connection. Maybe next time they should do something similar with the carwash.

Colourful sidewalks

To park your car on a busy boulevard you might have to pay quite some money. Tambour, the biggest paint retailer of Israel thought of an idea that might benefit those people that want to park throughout the city.
They painted the borders of the sidewalk in different colourschemes so that people can see if they can park for free, pay for it, or aren't allow to park at all.

Dress made of 24,000 LED's

If you want people to take notice of you when you're out in public this might work. With the 'Galaxy Dress' you get to display 24,000 LED lights on your body. The dress uses the same amount of electricity as two household bulbs.

Imagine if you could use this as a walking billboard!

Billboard(s) Advertising: Drooling dog

Sometimes the combination of two billboards can create great advertising ideas. In this case they booked two billboards, right across of each other in a small street. On one billboard there is a dog (of the breed Gread Dane) on a white background. It looks straight at the billboard in front of him. This sight of the other billboard makes him drool, which drops from his tongue to the ground beneath the billboard. On the ground they created puddle with jam sugar that dropped from a installation of a canister and a tube.

On the other side of the street the viewer sees the picture of dog food!

Guerrilla outdoor marketing follow up

What did you get for christmas? I'll bet you're happy with your presents, but not as happy as the people who got a Mini Cooper.

At least that's what they want you to believe. As part of a marketing campaign Mini put a couple of boxes out on the street as if it contained a Mini Cooper that was a present for Xmas.

Guerrilla outdoor marketing: Flat tire?

Het Zwarte Fietsenplan thought of a clever outdoor print campaign. They went guerrilla style buy putting stickers over the bikes on roadsigns to make it look like the bike has a flat tire. This way they try to tell people that they also fix flat tires.

Smoking billboard

This billboard actually caused people to dial 911. They told the emergency services that the billboard was on fire because there was smoke coming out. After the fire-department took a look at the thing it seemed that there was a smoke machine in the billboard as part of a marketing campaign. The machine was connected to a timer that would randomly set it of.
